Outbreak of Salmonella Newport

Whooping cough cases increase

Cases of whooping cough (pertussis) reported to the Health Protection Agency (HPA) in England and Wales have more than doubled from 421 cases in 2010 to 1040 in 2011. Increases in levels of whooping cough are seen every three to four years and figures in 2011 are in line with cases reported in the last peak year of 2008.

EXTENDED OPENING TIMES

The surgery is now open on some Monday and Tuesday evenings offering a limited number of pre-bookable doctors appointments and also some Tuesday mornings from 7.00 am for appointments with the GP and Health Care Assistants. We are also open some Saturday mornings. This service is designed, not exclusively, to accommodate people who find it difficult to attend during our normal opening hours of 8.00 am and 6.30 pm. Please ask the receptionist if you would like to book one of these appointments.

Out of Hours

The South Worcestershire PCT has organised an out of hours service for patients. This service is currently provided from Worcestershire Royal Hospital and is available from 6.30pm to 8.00am Monday to Friday and from 6.30pm Friday to 8.00am on Monday.

This is not a drop in centre. In the first instance, please telephone the centre to receive advice; you will then be advised if it is necessary for you to attend the centre for treatment.
